Seth’s Story

This tournament is named after Seth Ernst, a former JV soccer player from Geneseo who was tragically taken from us in a car accident on October 15, 2000. Seth loved the game of soccer and would be very proud to know how strong soccer has become in our area. The Ernst’s present an award every year to a Geneseo JV soccer player that best exemplifies the young man Seth was. The inscription on the award reads: “For exhibiting leadership on and off the field, for a strong work ethic that makes you a team player and a fierce competitor. For a great sense of humor and genuine love for the game of soccer.” Seth was a great sport on and off the field, which is why we honor him by maintaining our tournament’s main focus on sportsmanship.
