Sportsmanship

This tournament is different from any other tournament you will probably ever participate in. It was founded in 2006 with the overriding goal of making it fun for the kids and fans. We think you will agree that it’s hard for anyone to have fun when people choose not to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner, so this tournament awards those that take sportsmanship to a new level.

The largest trophies awarded will be for sportsmanship, not first place. The award is based on all of your team’s total participation including players, coaches, parents and fans. Referees and scorekeepers rank each team after every game on their overall sportsmanship and one team with the most points each day will receive the sportsmanship trophies and team picture in a frame.

Also, at the conclusion of each game, a sportsmanship pin will be presented by each team to one opposing team’s player who best demonstrated great sportsmanship on and off the field. It’s a BIG DEAL to be chosen to receive one of these! WIN the PIN!

There is an award given every year to a Geneseo JV soccer player that best exemplifies how Seth lived his life, part of the inscription on the award reads “For exhibiting leadership on and off the field.” Let’s honor Seth by conducting ourselves the way he did. On behalf of the Seth Ernst Memorial Soccer Slam committee and the Ernst family we sincerely hope that your team’s goal is to earn this coveted award.
